New talks have been scheduled for January and February at the Odenton Regional Library (formerly known as the West County Library). The topics are Introduction to Genealogy and Census Research.

The ABC’s of Genealogy at the Anne Arundel Genealogical Society

It was great to meet and speak with so many people at the Census table last night! Hopefully you will be using census records, both population and non-population schedules in your research.

ABC’s of Genealogy

On Thursday September 4, 2014, the Anne Arundel Genealogical Society is hosting their “ABCs of Genealogy” meeting. There will be eleven tables filled with genealogical information. I will be at Table 8 with “The US Federal Census”. The event is free. For details see the Anne Arundel Genealogical Society Meetings & Events Web Page.

New Talks Added

New talks have been added for Fall 2014. They are at the West County Library and the Baltimore County Genealogical Society.

Thanks to those who took the West County Library Talks survey. Those were combined with the surveys done by the library. and the topics will be: DNA, Online Databases and Social Media. Some of the other popular topics will be covered in the Spring.

Want to help pick my upcoming Fall 2014 West County Library Classes?

The West County Library in Odenton has graciously invited me back to teach genealogy classes.

They have asked what I would like to teach, and I am considering doing the DNA lecture that we missed due to snow. I’d be interested in what classes you would like to see.

I have created a survey with three (3) questions. The link to the survey is below, and it is anonymous.

The Washington DC Family History Center 8th Annual Conference

The Washington DC Family History Center 8th Annual Conference was great! It is always an honor to be invited to speak. I enjoyed the audiences for my talks, and learned from them, too.

I’m hoping that their will be a lot of new blogs out there after my talk. You CAN do this! And maybe it will help distant cousins to find you.

The other speakers that I had the pleasure to listen to were very professional, and interesting. The Keynote speaker talked about his work on the Baltimore Immigration Memorial Project.

If you need to download the syllabi, please do it before Sunday night (4 May 2014). Remember that the syllabus for Dr. Ezell’s talk, Genealogy Apps for Tablets and Smartphones, is not included in the download all option and has to be downloaded separately.
