Have Findmypast search 1940 Tutorial
On the Findmypast.com homepage, you can see which states have been indexed, and which states’ images are online.
If your ancestor is in a state that has not been indexed, you can sign up and have Findmypast search for them as soon as an index becomes available. (You will need to register a free account to do this.)
Click on “Let us find them for you”.
At a minimum, enter the last name of your ancestor and for Residence in 1940 click on the “Show List” to select the state(s) where your ancestor might have lived.
You can enter first name, an approximate birth year, and names of other family members. My example is below.
You will receive a confirming e-mail.
